Cost: $100.00. Fee includes complimentary breakfast, refreshments, and class materials. Fee is non-refundable. If cancelled by the presenter for any reason, participants will receive a full refund or a credit toward a future workshop.

Class Information:

 

This class is for all skill levels and language pairs. Class will be given in English.

 

Participants will learn:

 

·      Types of Interpreters

·      Role of the Interpreter

·      Code of Ethics

·      Basic Interpreting Skills

 

Participants, at the end of the class, will also be able to answer the following questions:

 

· What does an interpreter actually do?

· What does it feel like to be a professional interpreter?

· What skills are necessary to be a professional interpreter?

· What employment opportunities are there in our area?

 

 

Who would benefit from this class?

 

·      Individuals interested in becoming interpreters.

 

·      Individuals who have volunteered or interpreted for family members and would like to get professional training.

 

·      Interpreters who are already working, but with no formal training.

A one hour lunch will be on your own. Participants will not be permitted to bring a bagged lunch to eat in the conference room. There are a variety of dining options available within less than 5 minutes of the facility.
